My name is Geoffrey. I'm a full-time mechanical and environmental engineer by trade and a carpenter at heart. It started with fixing things around the house growing up, then rehabbing my own house top to bottom, and for the last seven-plus years my weekends have gone to the work I love: building decks and fences, hanging doors, installing trim, and fixing the things around a house that have broken or worn out.
Railsplitter Carpentry is the same crew you may know as Geoff's Fix It — same phone, same truck, same three of us: Todd, Phillip, and myself. We work jobs on Sundays and Mondays, and I'm on every job.
Carpentry comes first, but it's not our complete repertoire. We do furniture assembly, LVP flooring, and all sorts of odd jobs, except for plumbing, electrical, roofing, or painting.
A few certificates back up the work: I'm a certified Therma-Tru door installer, OSI certified, and a certified TimberTech and Deckorators composite decking installer. That training matters because door and decking warranties depend on the install being done to spec. The business is insured.
I publish my prices right here on this website, and estimates are free and in writing.
We work within about an hour of Springfield: Chatham, Sherman, Rochester, Riverton, Athens, Auburn, Pawnee, Petersburg, Jacksonville, Taylorville, and Lincoln, among others.

Privacy and shadowbox fence, post resets, gate builds, rehangs and hardware.

Interior and exterior prehung doors, including masonry openings. Storm doors and rotted window sills.

Mailbox and support posts dug out and reset plumb and solid, and rotted porch columns replaced.

Baseboard, crown and casing inside. Fascia, corner boards and door and window casing outside.

Custom-milled wood siding matched to your existing profile, plus first-story siding repair and installation.

Shelving, mounting, odd jobs and everything else — what the common jobs cost, posted up front.

LVP and laminate plank, subfloor repair, and the old carpet or vinyl torn out and hauled away.
